Portella Climate Observatory at Gran Sasso (Italy)
 (2401 m. a.s.l.)

The Portella climate observatory (OCP) at Gran Sasso (Italy) is a mountain station located on one of the ridge of the Mt. Portella (2401 m. a.s.l.), in the Gran Sasso chain. OCP is the highest mountain station of the Apennines, near the Calderone glacier (the southernmost of Europe). It is a strategic site to observe the chemical, physical and climatological changes of the atmosphere in the Mediterranean basin. The station is part of the SHARE network (Station at High Altitude for Research on the Environment), project managed by the Comitato EV-K2-CNR. For more information please contact Dr. Piero Di Carlo.
