a) Ergodic flow map: Consider the exercise 6.4 of the Reichl’s book:

  • determine the stationary distribution function

  • choose an observable f(p,q) and show numerically that the system is ergodic with respect to that observable

  • by choosing an ensemble of initial states show that the system is not mixing

b) Consider the Arnold’s cat map and answer the same questions of the previous exercise. Could you find a recurrence time for this map?
